Scholarship Opportunities
Every year Nakoma Golf Club members back the commitment to the Club’s Caddie Program by generously contributing to one or more of the following scholarship programs.

Nakoma Foundation Scholarships
Every Nakoma caddie who reaches 25 “loops” each season automatically receives $10 per loop (retroactively and going forward) which will be set aside in that caddie’s college education fund.  High school students can build this account over the years.  The Nakoma Foundation will issue checks to the appropriate College or University bursar’s office when those caddies enroll in college.  A recipient must start to use his/her account within one year from high-school graduation or the funds will be transferred back to the program.  In 2017, 19 Nakoma caddies earned over $8,100 in Foundation Scholarships.

Jim Rath Scholarships
Like the Nakoma Foundation Scholarships, our Rath Scholarships are unique opportunities available only to caddies and bag-room personnel who work at Nakoma.  Each August, qualified candidates may submit applications which are reviewed and discussed by the Rath Committee.  Each September a limited (3 - 5) number of scholarships are awarded by the Committee to the most worthy applicants.  Criteria for selection include GPA, community service, excellence as a caddie and a demonstrated commitment to Nakoma.  Since 2007 the club has awarded over $60,000 in Rath Scholarships.

Evans Scholarships
Over 90 Nakoma families are annual donors to the Western Golf Association’s Evans Scholar Foundation.  Evans Scholars receive four years of free room and tuition at one of over 40 prestigious universities throughout the nation.  Nakoma has been fortunate so have seen three of our favorite caddies receive Evans Scholarships to the University of Wisconsin, Madison over the last few years.  More details on the Evans program at Nakoma can be found here at the WGA Website.

These tremendous scholarship opportunities represent an important component to Nakoma Golf Club’s commitment to its employees and the community at large. They are a sampling of the countless benefits and life-lessons available to you as a caddie at Nakoma Golf Club.
