Welcome to Nakoma! Whether you are a new member or are thinking of joining the Club, our Membership Committee will serve as your ambassador.

Meet the Membership Committee:

James Imhoff, III - Chairperson
james@uhpwarranty.com | 608.219.5485

My name is James Imhoff.  I am the current Membership Committee Chair at Nakoma, and I’m damn glad to meet you! My wife, Kelly, and I have been members for almost ten years.  Kelly recently started playing golf in the casual 9-hole Women’s Night on Tuesdays.  She’ll say she isn’t much of a golfer (yet!), but she likes the group of ladies…and the wine! 😊 It’s also a great way to meet other members.

Our two daughters, Alison (6) and Gwen (3), truly love Nakoma. As they age they are getting into tennis and golf, but they are already active swimmers. The Halloween Party and the Santa Brunch are a couple of our family’s favorite events.

I play as much golf as I can, which is not enough as I’d like, but I typically find time to play on Thursdays for Men’s Day.

Please consider reaching out to me if you have any questions as new members, or if you are considering joining Nakoma.  I know it can be a lot to sort through as you truly get acclimated to the Nakoma community.  I’d be happy to meet you for lunch or to simply introduce you to some of the staff, get you set up with lockers and answer any questions.

I hope to see you around Nakoma soon!

Vicky D'Orazio
vic@chorus.net

Hello! My name is Vicky D’Orazio and I have been a Nakoma member for 24 years. My husband Richard and I raised our five children here. Each one spent many summers learning to play tennis and golf, swimming on the swim team and participating in the many fun activities along the way.

As a family, we cannot say enough about the wonderful experiences and the lifelong friendships we have all made. So happy to now have a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter to enjoy all the fun with us. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Life is good here at Nakoma!

Andrea Lessner
andrealessner@gmail.com

My name is Andrea Lessner. My husband Justin and I have been members for three years. Our two daughters, Sydney (7) and Jenna (5), love the Club as much as we do. They take swim and tennis lessons and participate in activities such as water ballet and swim team. Justin golfs as much as he can and I love meeting friends for wine by the fire pits on the patio. Nakoma is our home away from home every summer.

There are several year-round events that we enjoy as well. We particularly like decorating cookies for Santa, having brunch with the Easter Bunny and splashing around at the 4th of July Pool Party. Drive-In Movie Night on the golf course and the annual New Year's Eve party are a couple of our other favorites, but there are many more.

In our opinion, the Nakoma community is what makes the Club so special. We have built relationships with countless new friends and families since we joined. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about what to expect. I hope to see you at the Club!

Tim McIlwain
tim.mcilwain@gmail.com

Hello friends! My name is Tim McIlwain and I have been a Nakoma member since 2011, going on seven full years. My fiancé Courtney, my son Dominic and I absolutely love the community here at the Club. The members and the staff are all first class in our book.

We love forming new relationships, so please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself if you see me and my family around the Club. You’ll most likely find me out on the golf course or on the 19th tee enjoying the new and improved patio. I look forward to welcoming you to Nakoma.

Ryan Rist
rrist@amfam.com | 608-661-9253

We’re the Rists. I’m Ryan and that’s my wife Katie and our two sons, Owen (9) and Miles (7). We live just down the road from the Clubhouse and this is our second year at Nakoma. We initially joined for the swim team and I cannot say enough good things about the program. Our kids receive fantastic instruction from a top notch set of coaches – and they’re having a great time with their friends.

We ended up signing the kids up for junior golf as well. I was impressed with the small group size and how the pros do little things to make it fun. Our family enjoys playing tennis and golf, swimming and having dinner on the outdoor patio. Nakoma is a great place to be, and the people really make it special. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to speak with someone about Nakoma.

Cindy Schmelzer
Cschmelzer2@gmail.com | cindy@insightful-hr.com | Cindy: 608-444-1402 | Rick: 608-444-9129

My name is Cindy Schmelzer. I am currently on the Membership Committee here at Nakoma, and I am happy to answer any questions you might have about the Club. My husband Rick and I have been members for two years. This picture is from our 30th wedding anniversary, a golf vacation to Hawaii.

Rick and I shopped around at all the local clubs for two years before we joined Nakoma. The welcoming environment, staff and members were what did it for us. The great food was a huge plus too!

We now know we made the right decision, as we have formed many close relationships at Nakoma in the past couple years. We’ve made great friends to golf with, have dinner with, and even get together with in Florida during the winter.

As you may have already guessed, Rick and I are both avid golfers. I joined the 18-hole Tuesday morning ladies’ league and truly enjoy both the ladies and the format. It has been a great way for me to get to know other members and learn more about the club. My husband plays on Men’s Day on Thursdays. He enjoys getting together with the guys each week and meeting new members.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me (or Rick) if you have any questions as a new member, or if you are considering joining Nakoma.  My role is to be an ambassador for the Club.

Andy Voeltner
andy.voeltner@lpl.com

My name is Andy Voeltner. My wife Becca and I have been members at Nakoma for one year. We have four children – Max (8), Calvin (6), Evelyn (3) and Lewis (3) – no, the last two aren’t twins :). Becca loves to bring the kids to the pool and enjoy a free (most expensive ever) cup of coffee and a book. The kids love the water and the food from the grill.

So far, Becca and I have enjoyed a few of the family events and some of the dining events. I am constantly being told that I show potential as a golfer, which I’ve come to believe is club slang for “you play like Charles Barkley,” or rather “your golf game is embarrassing, sign on to someone else’s foursome.” With that said, I golf as much as I can, including most Thursdays for Men’s Day.

We know what it’s like to be newer to the club and would be happy to help you ease into your membership.  We can help answer any questions you may have or give you tips on avoiding some social faux pas we’ve discovered as we fumbled through our first year. Also, don’t hesitate to introduce yourself to Becca or me, so we can get to know you and help you meet some other members. See you at the Club!

Clint Walkner
clint@walknercondon.com | 608-234-4127

Hi, my name is Clint Walkner. Courtney and I have been Nakoma members for over five years now. We really enjoy the amenities the club has to offer and most of all, the friendly people that are all around you. Sawyer (4) has really taken a liking to the pool, and Hadley (2) enjoys the kiddie pool. Our family looks forward to growing up with Nakoma.

I enjoy Men’s Day nearly every Thursday and also have found the Club to be a great place to host events – the whiskey and wine tastings have been huge hits with my clients.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions. The more comfortable you are with all the small things, the more you will utilize and enjoy the Club. Hit ‘em straight!

Gordon Ridley
gtridley81@gmail.com

I’m Gordon Ridley and this is me on the 18th hole on a beautiful Fall day.  Susan and I were SPT members in the 90s when our children had many happy days at Nakoma.

We joined as full members just a year ago, now retired and I was drawn to the golf program and our wonderful course. It’s all worked out well, from the golf professionals to special events to being around people that love the game.

One of our children returned this summer and her 2 year old loved the pool so that’s 3 generations that have enjoyed Nakoma.  I’m happy to be introducing Nakoma to prospective members; it’s easy work.
